The finest of all fruit in my opinion. Strictly speaking some white you mulberries are not only edible, they are delicious - different varieties of red, white and black mulberries can have fruit that are either of the other colours eg a red mulberry can have white fruit. I have a delicious white fruited variety called Carmen in my garden
Ah thanks Mark, good to know. I now might have to edit and quote you! I did wonder why most of the dried mulberries I've ever found are white, and they taste delicious.
Yes! I grew up near Washington DC, where there apparently are mulberry trees in the city, but I had never seen them until maybe 8-10 years ago at the market in Palo Alto CA south of San Francisco. A guy had a tree in his yard and for some weeks in the late spring and early summer he would load them up on his little electric vehicle and bring them to the market. He also made jam. So good! Unfortunately I haven’t seen him since the pandemic…
A lovely celebration of a wonderful fruit. 💜
Thank you very much Jenny x
